Founded in 2022 after the COVID-19 lockdown, the Uganda Khokho Federation (UKKF) is the official governing body for the promotion and development of Kho Kho in Uganda. Established by visionary pioneers like Nsubuga Mustapha, Oroma Sharon, and Mpoza Dennis, who received training in India, the Federation began its journey in Butambala District with 35 trained coaches and officials. Since then, Kho Kho has expanded to regions such as Bunyoro, Teso, and Sebei, capturing the hearts of Ugandans and fostering a spirit of teamwork, agility, and competitive excellence. Anchored by the tagline “Kho Kho Anywhere, Kho Kho Everywhere,” UKKF is steadfast in its mission to nurture and professionalize this traditional sport across the nation.
UKKF aspires to become the leading Kho Kho nation globally, both on and off the pitch. Our mission is to nurture talent, promote the sport, and elevate it to a professional level. Guided by our core values, we prioritize nurturing talent, pursuing excellence, fostering teamwork, and upholding transparency and accountability. We instill a sense of belonging among members and remain loyal to our partners, including the Government, sponsors, and international associations. By emphasizing leadership, UKKF strives to set the benchmark for sports administration and management, ensuring every stakeholder is part of our shared success.
Under the dynamic leadership of President Namanda Hadija and a dedicated executive team, UKKF focuses on strategic goals like governance, membership growth, marketing, and competitions. Our initiatives are designed to popularize Kho Kho, foster regional and national competitions, and establish Uganda as a strong contender on the international stage. With our headquarters at Makerere University in Kampala, UKKF is committed to creating opportunities for all Ugandans to embrace Kho Kho. Join us in our journey to transform the sport into a symbol of national pride and unity.
